Abstract
The consumer has not taken centre-stage in research on the Circular Economy so far. The project particularly targeted sustainability related behaviour and awareness of students who are still in their formative stage as a consumer. A mixed-method setting combined Concept Mapping, a serious game, self-observation and a survey in an innovative way. A total of 65 students of Economics, Industrial Engineering and Business Education and Management Training alongside 25 experts from fields such as city and traffic planning, mobility research and mobility service agencies took place in the project. A comparison of the Concept Maps of students (novices) and practitioners (experts) revealed qualitative differences in the interconnectedness of sustainability knowledge but also that students had structural knowledge of good quality. Reflexion has proven to be crucial in forstering sustainability competence. The project results can seamlessley be transferred to scientific and practice settings.
