The pre-conference workshop “Fostering Competence and Inclusion in VET through Digital Innovation,” held on September 17, 2025, at TUD Dresden University of Technology, explored the potential of digital innovations to foster competence development and inclusion in vocational education and training (VET). Bringing together researchers from Germany and Indonesia, the workshop provided insights into research on digital competence development and inclusive education, alongside practical approaches to integrating innovative technologies into vocational teaching and training. Contributions addressed key digital competencies and learning analytics, vocational teacher development through industry collaboration, inclusive communication technologies, and the didactic design of technology-enhanced training environments using video, augmented reality, and virtual reality. Particular attention was given to the opportunities and challenges of integrating digital technologies into practice-oriented and safety-critical training contexts. Overall, the workshop highlighted the potential of digital innovation to enhance learning opportunities, strengthen vocational competencies, and promote inclusive educational practices. It also emphasized the importance of international research collaboration and the close integration of research and practice in shaping future developments in VET.
