Abstract

This paper takes a closer look at experiential argumentation in the cannabis discourse. Using selected examples from a German-Canadian YouTube comment corpus, it is demonstrated how personal consumption experiences are utilized for argumentative purposes. It can be shown cross-nationally that these experiences are often presented in the form of fragmented narratives, which simultaneously serve as arguments for certain contentious theses. In the context of the analysis, the emotionalization and credibility resources brought to bear are also examined in more detail.
