Abstract
Polyaryl ether ketones, polyether sulfones and other high-temperature thermoplastics are increasingly being used for applications which have previously been reserved for graphites, ceramics or metals. New uses include thermoplastic machine elements or where conventional technical polymers no longer fulfil the requirements. Special applications for those materials are maintenance-free sliding bearing with sliding surface temperatures within the range up to 300 degrees C. Especially polyaryl ether ketone (PEKEKK) and short carbon-fiber reinforced compounds of PEKEKK have a high resistance to wear and low coefficient of friction. (from English summary)
