Abstract

The aim of this project was the comparative analysis to determine the remaining life of concrete roads in Austria and Germany based on a critical review of the material paramameters to be determined. In order to reach this objective both countries took material samples from selected places of the highway network and each country examined them with its standard methods. These material data are the basis for country-specific forecast models. In addition, laboratory
concrete was tested for fatigue-induced damage evolution. The analysis of the calculation results produced by the forecast models and the material data obtained shows a possible need for further material parameters on the one hand and on the other hand reveals the differences, advantages, disadvantages and necessary improvements on the analysis models aimed at determining the
residual life of concrete road surfaces.
