Abstract
The German guidelines for the mechanistic design of asphalt pavements, RDO Asphalt, enable material-optimized design based on mechanistic, empirical methods.
However, the accuracy of the method depends largely on the precise recording and modeling of loads and material properties. For this reason, the paper focuses on improving the consideration of the thermo-viscoelastic material behavior of asphalt mixtures in the context of the German mechanistic design procedure for asphalt pavements.
