Research output: Intellectual PropertyPatent application/Patent

Abstract

The tripod head (1) has a contact region (12) that is filled with electrical/magneto rheological fluid (6). A ball head portion (3) is pivotally mounted in a mounting portion (4) of a ball-and-socket joint (2). The viscosity of rheological fluid is varied at the contact region through electrical and/or magnetic field (13) generated by generating elements (18,19). A control unit is provided to control the electrical and/or magnetic field generating elements so that mechanical damping of mounting pin (11) and locking of mounting pin are adjusted.
