Abstract

The properties of polytetrafluoroethylenes (PTFE)-polyamide (PA) compound materials were analyzed to explore its applications in different fields. The material possessed very low coefficient of sliding friction and low wear rate promoting its use in maintenance-free sliding bearings. The analysis of controlled splitting of polyamides by carboxylic acid and its anhydride compounds suggested that high reactivity of the carboxylic acid groups with amide linkages resulted in production of uniform PTFE-PA6 products.
