Abstract

Hollow sections made of textile-thermoplastic composites in combination with organosheets and injection-molding compounds offer an enormous potential for the lightweight construction of vehicle components. Efficient process design is essential if cost-effective, high-volume manufacturing is to be possible. In FuPro, a BMBF project, an uninterrupted process chain-from production of the semi-finished product, via preforming and consolidation of the hollow section, to injection molding-is being developed and set up on the application scale.
