Abstract
As part of a ZIM project, the ITM developed an innovative metallization process with metallic silver for the wet-chem- ical finishing of films and filament yarns made of aromatic, high-temperature resistant, non-melting, flame-retardant and inert polyimide high-performance polymers. This is a significant progress in the metallization technology of inert aromatic textile materials and foils. The aim of the development was a new, industrially suitable wet-chemical process for the economical production of silver-coated, high-temperature resistant filament yarns and foils in repro- ducible quality. This goal was achieved in cooperation with the project partner Statex by using the company's con- ventional equipment and machines without any restrictions. Aromatic Kapton Pl films from DuPont de Nemours GmbH, Neu-Isenburg/Germany, and Pl filament yarns P84 from Evonik Fibers GmbH, Schörfling/Austria, were used.
