Abstract
The light metal rim has a rim bed with wheel disc with outer and inner rim horn and hub and spokes. The light metal is strengthened at least in some areas with a textile pre-form (5) which is made from several interconnected layers of endless fibres into which the metal is infiltrated. Independent claim describes method for manufacturing rim by producing textile preform from several layers of endless fibres and inserting and fixing same in opened mould which is then closed. Light metal is then introduced under pressure into the closed mould and the rim is then removed from the mould when set.
