ABSTRACT: Presents a brief interview with Kenneth J. Gergen, author of a textbook on social constructivist theory titled "Realities and Relationships." Gergen's use of the concept of identities as relational constructions rather than as individual possessions is addressed. Gergen's idea of the self as narrative is discussed in association with his view of the therapeutic discourse as an intercultural discourse. Further topics include Gergen's encouragement of the greater recognition of non-Western psychology and the development of an international dialog on social constructivist theory.
