Abstract

In this article, iron graphite composite (EGr) with varying graphite content (from 20 to 80 %) and steel samples were manufactured using powder metallurgical method and characterized by resonance damping analysis. The EGr samples and steel samples as reference were used as spacer in a feed axis with a linear guide and the damping behavior was investigated using FFT and SFTF. The material damping of EGr increases with increased graphite content and EGr with 20 % shows the best damping capacity as it used in the feed axis.
