Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive, holistic overview of the problem of scaling fibre composites in thickness direction. In addition to the manufacturing and associated problems, the destructive testing under different load types is covered. One of the main focuses of the experimental investigations is the so-called size effect, i.e., the comparative examination of thin-walled and thick-walled laminates. In addition, an insight into the non-destructive testing methods relevant to this topic is given.
