Currently, the production of components made of composite materials with continuous fibres is lacking efficient manufacturing processes. While the application of plastic organic sheets fails to exploit the material's potential for light weight construction; draping and laminating processes are time and cost consuming. In an interdisciplinary project at the University of Dresden, an automatic production process to manufacture stress optimized components from plastic composite material enhanced with continuous fibres was developed.
