Abstract

Textile-reinforced concrete and plastics are increasingly being used to build pipes for water and gas supply, to overcome the problems of restriction of the crack width and the required reinforcement cross-section and its cover. Plastic materials have emerged as an alternative to conventional pipe materials, such as concrete, steel, and vitrified clay, for building small and medium diameter pipes. Plastic pipes are also being combined with a concrete jacket, enabling users to take advantage of significant features of both materials. Th e innovative pipe structure combines an inner plastic pipe, with an ultra-strength, textile-reinforced fine concrete pipe jacket. The combination of both materials provides the advantage of intentional division of functions based on the materials. Another primary function of the inner plastic pipe is to discharge fluids and ensure absolute impermeability of the pipe wall.
