Abstract
This study focuses on the cooperation activity between vocational training institutions (VTIs) and the ready-made garment (RMG) industry, especially in a tailoring training program in Laos. This research aims to investigate the cooperation activity of the selected VTIs in the city and rural areas. The approach in this study is quantitative, using the comparative method through the Wilcoxon Test to determine whether there is a difference between the two VTIs. The research samples consist of four teachers of VTI A and two teachers of VTI B. The hypotheses consist of H1: there is a difference between the activity of cooperation between both VTIs in the urban and rural areas, and H0: there is no difference between the activity of cooperation between both VTIs in the urban and rural areas. The samples of this research are six teachers who teach tailoring in both VTIs. Data were collected from July to September 2021 using a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale. According to the data from the questionnaire, the mean value of the VTIs in the city is 2.121 and in the rural area is 1.257. The result of the Wilcoxon test showed that the p-value is 0,0003702 at the level of significance of 5%, or p-value < 0.05. Thus, it means that H0 is not accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the activity of cooperation between both VTIs in urban and rural areas in terms of planning, implementing, financing, organizational structure, and human resource development.
