Research interests

As a clinician-scientist (and child and adolescent psychiatrist), I strive to understand the biological mechanisms underlying mental disorders starting early in life. My research program is focused on two major questions: How do inherited vulnerabilities interact with environmental factors during development to shape brain structure, brain function and abnormal behavior? Can disordered eating be understood in the context of altered reward and punishment sensitivity as well as cognitive control?
