Helin Sun obtained his Master’s degree from TU Dresden. He currently works as a research assistant at the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology.
His research focuses on electronic noses, gas sensor data analysis, and machine learning for chemical sensing applications. His work involves time-series analysis of temperature-modulated sensor data, with an emphasis on feature extraction, representation learning, and robust classification under varying environmental conditions.
His work combines classical machine learning methods and deep learning approaches, including convolutional neural networks, for odor classification tasks. In addition, he is interested in embedded systems and TinyML for real-time, on-device sensing applications.
His broader research interests include nanomaterials-based sensing, pattern recognition, and applications in environmental monitoring and biomedical diagnostics, particularly VOC-based disease detection.
