Abstract

Menstrual cycle disorders are common in young girls. The rhythm of the cycle and the intensity of the bleeding are usually normalized as the gonadal axis matures and the distance from the menarche increases. If disorders of puberty development are recognized, especially primary amenorrhea, rare genetic diseases that affect the overall health, such as Turner syndrome and premature ovarian failure, need to be identified to initiate preventive action. In young girls, functional disorders of the menstrual cycle due to under-and overweight are common. The health-promoting and interdisciplinary approach are beneficial for these patient groups as well. Hormonal therapy is a rational approach of treating severe menstrual cycle disorders, even the rarer bleeding disorders that already appear during adolescence.
