Abstract
Not only in the aerospace industry but also in the fields of traffic engineering, special-purpose machines, wind turbines and sport devices beside classic metallic materials novel fibre reinforced polymers are increasingly deployed. The different mechanical properties and the spedfic manufacturing possibilities of both material groups influence the product development process and lead to different design solutions. These differences are abo reflected in the applied design methods, whereat the effident development of fibre composite components demands adapted and new design strategies. Such strategies can be seen in the methodical struduring of multi-material designs, the structure driven component synthesis and the interactive design process.
