The usage of the internet is constantly intervening day-to-day private as well as professional life. Consequently, world-wide data traffic is continuously growing. Specific attention is paid to the network builders’ situation when construction the passive infrastructure as well as his expenditures, revenues and possibilities to act. For that purpose, the companies’ need for wideband has been analyzed. In addition, this analysis has been compared to the overall supply within the investigation area. As a result, a certain discrepancy between demand and availability of internet access has been determined. Specifically, a verifiable large demand for faster connections has been identified which could not yet be covered by existing offers. Consequently, a cartographic map of and necessary investments for a fiber to the home and a fiber to the curb-networks have been established. Based upon these information investments have been scrutinized by means of capital expenditure budgeting and sensitivity analysis in order to disclose their absolute and relative favorability and profitability.
