Abstract
This work-in-progress research study describes the development, pilot implementation, and evaluation of a 90-minute curriculum-aligned school module, designed for physics and computer science classes (grades 10 to 12) to introduce students to the basic concepts of quantum communication and the underlying physical principles. Our work is motivated by the growing importance of quantum technologies in modern science, with the aim of making these research areas more accessible, as disruptive changes are anticipated. The primary research questions guiding this study are whether the developed module conveys an introduction to quantum communication to the students, and how the module is perceived. Specifically, the study aims to evaluate the comprehensibility of the material and to identify potential areas for improvement. To assess these objectives, we used a questionnaire that includes open-ended questions and items rated on a five-point Likert scale. Data were collected through an online survey administered at the end of the module. In total, 63 students completed the questionnaire. The preliminary results suggest that the majority of students had a positive perception of the module. They found the lesson understandable, interesting, interactive, and enjoyable. It is therefore suitable as an accessible introduction to the subject. However, some students expressed a desire for a more detailed explanation of certain aspects of the topic. Specific suggestions for improving the module, based on the students' feedback, will be discussed in the paper.
