Abstract

The article provides an insight into Wilhelm Gottlieb Becker's (1753–1813) visionary conceptual approach to the »Gartenlandschaft«/»garden landscape« and thus serves as a conceptual point of reference for what is to follow in this volume. For a comprehensive understanding, Becker's person, the book »Der Plauische Grund« (1799) and the landscape area from which it takes its name are also discussed.
