Abstract
Many rather generalized terms in electro-acoustic music appear quite imprecise and inconsistent, especially when looking at technological classifications in a historical context. This paper gathers implicit ascriptions and definitions related to the terms used to describe the technical instrumentation of mixed music compositions from the 1970s to 1990s in order to frame terminological problems and outlines connections to challenges resulting from these inaccuracies for later re-performances.
