Abstract

We propose a revised branching model of vascular geometry and flow. The model is based on the two major assumptions that path lengths from the feeding vessels to the capillary bed vary significantly and that microvascular structure looks similar within different small regions of tissue. Computer simulations show that the model leads to spatial correlation of perfusion similar to those observed experimentally.
