Abstract

The fatigue behavior of concrete is gaining new relevance in context of continuous development in concrete constructions. Modern concretes achieve constantly higher strengths; hence concrete constructions become more and more attractive for new fields of applications like onshore and offshore wind turbines. The fatigue of concrete is of special significance for this type of cyclic loaded constructions. The knowledge of the load cycles to failure is no longer sufficient for the design. There are further questions related to strain and stiffness development and combination of fatigue loading and marine environmental conditions, which are investigated at Leibniz Universität Hannover within the research project "ProBeton". First results of this research project, which is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, are presented here.
