Abstract

This chapter discusses factors which can facilitate teacher research, drawing on case studies from Malaysian English teachers as part of the English Language Teacher Development Project (ELTDP). The ELTDP operated in East Malaysia from 2011 until 2013 (later extended from 2014 until 2016) and involved British Council mentors supporting Malaysian teachers’ development as reflective practitioners through a range of activities, including teacher research. The case studies in this chapter present reflections from mentors on processes, outcomes, challenges, and enabling factors related to teacher research. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the factors that facilitated the research and which others might draw on.
