Abstract

The electrification of road transportation is proceeding continuously. Along with the increase of battery-electric vehicles, there is also a growth of the corresponding charging infrastructure. This comprises not only AC charging stations, but increasingly also DC charging stations, which have a much higher rated power and are therefore also known as fast charging stations. While there are already many studies about the impact of AC charging on power quality (PQ) parameters, not so much is known yet about the emission characteristic of fast chargers. Therefore, this paper presents the measurement results of 20 different chargers, most of them fast chargers, which were obtained in China as well as in Germany. The focus is put on both the harmonic emission including an assessment against the respective limits and the supraharmonic emission in the frequency range between 10 kHz and 50 kHz. The chargers of both countries are thereby compared with each other.
