Abstract
An increase in the consumption of meat and dairy products due to the growing world populations is expected. The number of cattle has risen and will continue to rise over the next decades. In contrast the available grassland area stagnated. The resource of pasture land will become more and more valuable. Robots can help to increase the effectivity of this fodder resource for cattle in a sustainable and resource-friendly manner. This paper presents results of a developed pasture robot which performs selective pasture maintenance in terms of precision farming using modern information and communication technologies (ICT).
