Abstract

More and more machining centers are equipped with modern direct drive systems. Their performance can be increased when fitting those drives in with proper dimensioned decoupling elements. In this paper when evaluating the decoupling quality of a linear direct drive the influence of guide ways with static and dynamic friction will be discussed and its application limits are pointed out when using them as additional damping elements.
