Abstract

Promoting the scientific field of data management to junior scientists was the goal of the one-day-workshop on Research Methodologies in Data Management, which took place on Monday June 23, 2025 in Berlin. The program encompassed a wide variety of topics from experimental design to reproducibility, open science, ethical behavior in science, and more. Also, the event fostered scientific and social networking within the German database community of the next generation: 45 PhD students from 33 universities were chosen, after nomination by their supervisors, to join the event that was financed by the German Informatics Society (GI). Being scheduled just prior to the 2025 ACM SIGMOD/PODS International Conference on Management of Data Berlin, the workshop offered a great opportunity for junior scientists to attend the most renowned event of the international DB community within Germany.
