Abstract
This paper describes an experimental and numerical investigation of the reinforcement with self-tapping screws of moment-resisting joints in laminated veneer lumber (LVL) frame corners. The three portal frame corners were experimentally tested to determine the load-deformation behavior, load-carrying capacity and stiffness of the joints, and study the influence of the reinforcements. The laboratory investigations and obtained experimental data showed the efficiency of reinforcement dowel-type joints LVL elements by full-threaded screws. Numerical analyses followed laboratory tests. In this paper, preliminary results are shown and discussed.
