Abstract
The number of allergic diseases increased dramatically within the past decades, and many childre abd adolescents are affected. Both diagnostical and therapeutical options improved significantly, however expert knowledge is needed to use them in a proper way. Therefore appropriate education during medical study and later on during pediatric residency is as ur-gently needed as for advanced training later on for allergo-logical specification. Due to the high time expenditure needed for allergic children sufficient financing is another preconditi-on to realise a nationwide care of the patients. Both training and financial support urgently needs improvement in Germany. Decisions recently made to change the regulation on further education in allergology will bring up Germany to the rear in qualified allergo-logical care. Definitive changes in education and financing are desperately neccessary and possible to cope with the widespread disease of allergy.
