Abstract

Prehospital emergency care is medically and communicatively demanding. This study analyzed the experiences of patients treated during a helicopter emergency service mission in 2024 based on a standardized survey. Aspects such as fear, information provision, communication, pain relief, and overall satisfaction were assessed. Results show high satisfaction levels (mean = 1.44), significant reduction of initial anxiety (from 3.70 to 2.34), and strong correlations between empathy, information, perceived safety, and satisfaction. The findings highlight the essential role of patient-centered communication and emotional care as key quality indicators in prehospital emergency medicine. Practical implications include brief standardized patient-centered explanations and structured involvement of relatives.
