Abstract
The new liverwort species Pallavicinia ouinensis is described from New Caledonia. Pal-lavicinia ouinensis is characterized by gynoecia developed in the basal part of the winged sector of small ventral intercalary branches. Also, the androecia seem to be developed often, but not exclu-sively, on small ventral intercalary branches. The androecial scales occupying short sectors of thal-lus of only 1.5 mm length, the scales are arranged in 2–4 rows, densely packed over the midrib. The species is compared to its closest relatives.
