Abstract

Communication systems are always affected by unavoidable random disturbances. Among other components, oscillators are particularly affected by this phenomenon. Random fluctuations in the oscillator output caused by those disturbances can be modeled as amplitude and phase deviations. It turns out that mainly random phase fluctuations are important. Random phase fluctuations can be modeled using second order stochastic processes with short or long memory. This paper provides a model for the simulation of oscillators random phase fluctuations with short memory.
