Abstract

The dynamics of machine tools could dramatically be changed by strictly integrating direct drives (high torque motors) and/or applying parallel kinematic drive structures. Nevertheless the dynamic properties of those technical principles will be limited when applying larger working space. Within this article two basic approaches to overcome its technical limits are exposed. On one hand there is the principle of jerk decoupled direct drives and the other hand there is the concept of superimposed drive structures.
