Abstract
In multi-child families, children grow up with different sibling relationships, which differ in terms of age, the distance between them and the distribution of the gender ratio. This article expands care research to include empirical findings on family care practices among siblings by focusing on the intra-family distribution of child care and responsibility in multi-child families from a doing family perspective. First, three types of quantitative distribution of sibling care work are developed from qualitative sibling interviews. The documentary method is then used to reconstruct different orientation frameworks within the types in which siblings are involved in care work. This reveals that the assumption of care work can be interpreted as a natural obligation placed on the children, which is, however, also experienced positively.
