Abstract

The article overviews digital maps in literary studies that spatially organize knowledge about literature and its past by topographically addressing that, which is narrative. The author explores hybrid interactive literary geovisualizations. She analyzes academic portals that combine features of encyclopedias and maps, attempts at applying literary cartography instruments in education, and projects created by amateurs with to geomedia tools. Furthermore, the article examines literary applications that allow tracking past journeys of writers. The author discusses forms that enable walking on paths made of literary traces. The text touches on the cognitive and ideological aspects of tools in digital humanities: interactive and playable maps.
