Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a potentially useful technology in colorectal cancer management. This article provides a comprehensive overview of AI applications across the colorectal cancer care continuum. In endoscopy, AI systems already support polyp detection and characterization in real time, with performance comparable to expert clinicians. For histopathology, AI models not only automate routine diagnoses but can predict molecular alterations and clinical outcomes directly from pathology slides. Recent advances in large language models offer new possibilities for clinical decision support by synthesizing complex medical information and assisting in multidisciplinary tumor boards. Despite these promising developments, successful implementation requires addressing substantial challenges including healthcare digitalization, regulatory frameworks, and reform of medical education.
