Abstract

An important aim of construction grammar is to capture, and describe, both lexical and syntagmatically complex form-meaning pairings as linguistic patterns on varying levels of abstraction. In this article, we try to show that constructionist analyses may be fruitful and helpful for the hermeneutics of narrative texts in the area of literary studies and linguistics. More concretely, the article aims at (a) introducing basics of a constructionist analysis, (b) showing potential constructionist pathways to analyze and interpret narrative texts, and (c) presenting and functionally describing exemplary constructions.
