Abstract
Virtual Reality (VR) is becoming a more and more important evaluation tool for mechanical products. This article presents a process integration solution based on Product Lifecycle Management system (PLM). This makes it possible not only to process and display geometries but also to depict non-geometrical product data management information. Otherwise it is possible to select components in VR and to change them in CAD subsequently. Because the PLM system is the technical master it is possible to create heterogeneous assemblies made from different CAD systems which can be displayed in VR all together. The process is controlled by a CAD system client which communicates besides the VR system also with the PLM system. This solution takes the form of a bidirectional connection via the PLM and the CAD or VR system.
