K2S6, a potassium polysulfide with long sulfur chain

Abstract

K2S6 was prepared in high purity and the crystal structure solved from X-ray powder data. K2S6 represents the most sulfur rich compound in the K-S-phase diagram. The dominating species in the crystal structure are six membered sulfur chains in an all-trans arrangement.
