Abstract
For the surgical treatment of cervical cancer there is the option of reduction of the radicality of surgery depending on exact knowledge of the characteristics of the tumor biology and spread at the time of treatment. The necessary diagnostic surgical steps can be minimized and an orientation to the necessary purely therapeutic resection can be carried out. The benchmark for the limitation of surgical treatment is the oncological outcome, analyzed within prospective randomized trials in comparison to standard treatment. The type of surgical procedure can also reduce morbidity with the same oncological outcome but requires an equally careful examination. Current data are presented and incorporated into the evaluation of the current surgical treatment of cervical cancer.
