Abstract
Although the machine drivers are exposed to the sound and the vibration simultaneously, most of the industrial safety regulations consider the noise exposure or the vibration exposure separately. Within the framework of a study on the control of noise at work, the noise and whole body vibration emissions of various street sweepers were measured. The representative vehicle types and daily characteristic driving situations were selected for the investigation. The binaurally recorded sounds and the whole-body vibrations, which are recorded at the driver seat were analyzed using the industrial safety regulations. Both recordings were also analyzed using psychoacoustical properties. The annoyance of these signals and their variations were evaluated at the laboratory. This study investigates the weightings of the noise and the vibration on the overall annoyance and the combined influence of the noise and the vibration.
