Abstract
Scanning force microscopy in tapping mode is used for imaging low-viscosity liquid structures. Droplets on a substrate the wettability of which had been artificially structured in the submicron range are investigated. From the observed distortions of the contact line, we obtain contact line tensions in the theoretically expected range.
