Abstract
High-speed optical coherence tomography (OCT) is presented as an alternative and complementary tool for the visualization of nucleate boiling on heated surfaces. High-speed OCT allows the visualization of vapor bubbles with high spatial resolution and high temporal resolution. The geometry of the vapor bubbles can be determined quantitatively using an automatic segmentation and tracking algorithm. Furthermore, Doppler processing reveals the axial fluid velocity component.
