Abstract

This paper presents a field study, in which three battery-electric vehicles were connected one after the other to a fast charging installation in a public low voltage network. The installation includes also a battery energy storage system for peak shaving purposes. One aspect of the field test was an assessment of the impact of the fast charging installation on power quality parameters such as the harmonic and supraharmonic distortion. This paper discusses both the current emission and the respective impact on the voltage disturbance levels in the network. Furthermore, the summation of harmonics is studied and the impact on voltage disturbance levels at the point of connection are compared with those at the transformer busbar, which is the point of common coupling.
