Abstract

The high-power charging substation for battery-electric multiple units (BEMUs) is a simple and inexpensive concept for charging of BEMUs using the typical electric grid frequency of 50 Hz independent of the railway voltage system. This is an innovation for 15 kV countries and requires tests to proof the functionality and conformity to the relevant guidelines of the whole charging system consisting of infrastructure and vehicle.
